Andy Murray vs Dusan Lajovic Prediction and Odds: Miami Open 2023

Andy Murray is taking on Dusan Lajovic in the first round of the Miami Open today. Which way will this match swing? Take a look at my predictions here.

These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.

Murray vs Lajovic – Match Predictions

The first rounds of the 2023 Miami Open are scheduled to begin today in the men’s singles. And of the many first rounds that will be played later, Murray vs Lajovic is definitely one of the main picks. It could be an interesting contest with both guys liking to battle from the baseline, yet I would say that Murray has the edge on a hard court. He’s also in good form at the moment, as backed up by his results in the 2023 season to date.

Miami Open Odds

As for Lajovic, he’s not a bad hard-court player, not by any means. And at 76 in the world, he is experienced with playing these bigger events. However, with all of this in mind, I feel that the following two predictions should serve punters well for this clash.

Set Betting – Murray 2-0

Murray hasn’t always been the quickest starter in 2023. But he has ultimately pulled through in most of his tight contests in recent months. Then again, he should be sharp after the three matches he played in Indian Wells. So I am going for Murray to win in straight sets here.

Under 20.5 Games

Given that I am going for Murray to win 2-0 in sets, I figured that this market would be the perfect complement. Bear in mind for this match to have more than 20.5 games, the sets would need to be very tight indeed. In fact, at least one set would need to have a score of 7-5. And due to the quality of Murray’s returns this season, I think he will stop the sets from going that far.

Murray vs Lajovic Preview

Now that you’ve read through my tennis predictions today for Murray vs Lajovic, let me follow this up with a preview for each guy.

Andy Murray Preview

Andy Murray has been on a bit of a tear in the 2023 season. The veteran has produced some big wins against the top players in the world, and he has stolen many wins from the jaws of defeat along the way. He also made the third round in Indian Wells last week, which bodes well for this match.

Dusan Lajovic Preview

Dusan Lajovic had a solid clay court run in February, yet he didn’t keep this up when it came to Indian Wells. In fact, Lajovic didn’t make it through the qualifiers since he retired during the match against Tennys Sandgren in the opening round. Therefore, his physical shape is also questionable going into this match.

Murray vs Lajovic Head to Head

Andy Murray and Dusan Lajovic have never played one another. This is pretty amazing when you consider that Murray is 35 years of age and Lajovic is 32. So they’ve both been on tour a long time, yet they’ve never shared a court.
