Our favourite Alexander Zverev vs Aleksandar Vukic match predictions

The tennis world watches closely as these two players bring their distinctive narratives to the grandest of stages. The German ace recently claimed silverware success in Hamburg while Vukic lifted the Busan Challenger trophy.

3-1 to Alexander Zverev @ 27/10 (3.70)

Zverev is the bookmakers’ overwhelming favourite and with good reason. The German ace reached the Cincinnati Masters semi-finals following his title triumph in the Hamburg Open. He should be routing Vukic in straight sets had the Australian not been on an absolute tear recently. The Atlanta Open finalist also got wins in Toronto and can cause problems for the German ace. Vukic has a 32-15 record on hard courts in 2023 and even in his defeat to Winston-Salem champion Sebastian Baez in the second-round defeat, shaved off a set. He will not give up with ease and go down fighting. Based on this, we expect Zverev to surrender a set in an expected win over Vukic.

Over 34.5 Games @ 87/100 (1.87)

Vukic has shown a remarkable ability to keep himself alive in events as evidenced by his win in Busan and three runner-up finishes in 2023. Three of his last four matches needed extended time to finish and were three-set affairs. Zverev can be slow to get off the mark and we can have a long match on our hands. In his semi-final defeat to Novak Djokovic, the Serbian had to race to 7 in both sets and Daniil Medvedev and Yoshihito Nishioka did the same earlier in the event. Given Vukic’s stellar form, we expect an extended battle that sees at least 34.5 games to find a victor.

Alexander Zverev preview

The German ace has been in the news for all the wrong reasons as a former partner lodged complaints of harassment against him. It did not deter him on the court with silverware success in Hamburg. Travelling across the pond, Zverev had a short stint in Toronto but got going in Cincinnati. Dropping a single set, he reached the semi-finals where an eager Djokovic awaited him. He went on to lose in straight sets but forced the tiebreaker in the first set and had similar designs in the second.

Aleksandar Vukic preview

Away from the limelight, Vukic has continued to ply his trade and gotten results to show for it. On the North American hard court circuit, the Australian ace reached the finals of the ATP Atlanta before a first-round stoppage in the Citi Open. It did not deter him in the Canadian Open, where he reached the third round. An inspired Gael Monfils ended his run as he came through the qualifiers and was awarded a lucky losers berth.
