Bublik vs Shelton – Match Predictions
Contents
You’ve got to love Alexander Bublik. He’s one of the most entertaining players on tour, yet his quest to ‘wow’ the fans doesn’t always serve him well. As for Ben Shelton, he is one of the most promising young talents on the ATP Tour at the moment. Therefore, the stage is set for a rather intriguing encounter between these two.
As for what you should be looking into in terms of the most appropriate tennis predictions today, I have landed on the following:
Bublik to Win
I was impressed with how Bublik played on the clay at the Madrid Open. Sure, he had his ups and downs, yet he almost took out Holger Rune – no small feat! And at the Italian Open so far, he emerged with a solid win over Pedro Martinez. Given that Martinez is a decent clay court player, this bodes well for Bublik. Furthermore, I think his game matches up against Shelton’s rather well on this surface.
Over 22.5 Games
Although I do believe that Bublik will win, I don’t believe it will be a walk in the park. I say this for two reasons. First, Shelton is no pushover, and he will scrap for every point, making it tough for Bublik to close him out quickly. And secondly, we all know that Bublik tends to lose the plot in matches at the best of times. Therefore, the inevitable concentration lapse will allow Shelton to rack up the games.
Bublik vs Shelton Preview
Since I’ve now given you the most appropriate betting markets for this match, let’s move on to the individual previews now.
Alexander Bublik Preview
Bublik has always been an up-and-down player. However, he seems to really be enjoying himself on the clay, and he has already won the hearts of the Italian crowd in his opening match. As for his ranking, he is 49 in the world right now, which is 14 places below Shelton.
Ben Shelton Preview
As mentioned above, Shelton is certainly one of the rising stars on the ATP Tour. At just 20 years of age, he is ranked 35 in the world, and he is seeded 28th at the Italian Open. However, having lost his opening match to Struff in Madrid, he dropped down to the Challenger level last week but lost in the semi-finals. So his form is clearly a little patchy on the dirt.
Bublik vs Shelton Head to Head
Given how new Shelton is to these higher-level tournaments, it probably doesn’t surprise you to learn that these two guys have never played before. So with that in mind, we go into this one with a completely clean slate. And one guy will inevitably take a head-to-head lead over the other once things are done.
