It’s always fun to create tennis predictions today when we reach the later stages of Grand Slams. That said, the second set of quarter-final games is coming right up, and I’ve covered de Minaur vs Djokovic right here.
Our favourite Alex de Minaur vs Novak Djokovic predictions
Contents
This is the quarter-final that many of us wanted to see from this section of the draw. De Minaur is the 9th seed while Djokovic is the 2nd seed, so really, this should be a high-quality battle full of great tennis. However, only one of these guys will be involved in the semis on Friday.
Let me share my thoughts on who that will be.
Djokovic to win 3-0 @ 8/5 (2.60)
Most punters feel that Djokovic has this match in the bag. But there’s no real value in simply taking him for the win. Furthermore, based on the last time these guys played in a Grand Slam, Djokovic dismantled de Minaur with ease. So for me, I think this market is a good play.
Djokovic -4.5 games handicap @ 3/4 (1.75)
Assuming Djokovic goes ahead and takes out de Minaur in straight sets, I see no reason to avoid this market. And with those odds available, the potential return is pretty awesome given how likely it is that Djokovic pulls through.
Alex de Minaur vs Novak Djokovic odds
Looking at the most recent odds for this match, de Minaur has a 29.40% probability of getting the win while the chance for Djokovic is much greater at 76.90%.
Aussie grinder vs Serbian powerhouse – a big match coming up at Wimbledon 2024
In their second Grand Slam meeting, will Djokovic or de Minaur move into the semis? Let me share some previews to go with my predictions.
Alex de Minaur preview
Alex de Minaur is one of the toughest competitors out there. He chases every ball down and makes you work like a mule to win points. But there is one problem with that – Djokovic can hit through him, as displayed in their encounter at the 2023 Australian Open. Nevertheless, de Minaur is playing solid tennis at Wimbledon this year, and he’s produced great wins to make it this far. So I’m sure he will be feeling like he has a chance.
Novak Djokovic preview
The seven-time champion looks almost back at his best on the grass courts of Wimbledon. Sure, the knee is still a bit of a question mark, but his convincing three-set win against Rune showed us all his current level. And usually, when this man reaches the quarters of events like Wimbledon, he steps things up – especially against guys like de Minaur.
De Minaur vs Djokovic head to head
You’d have thought that these guys would’ve competed many times on the ATP Tour. But as it happens, they’ve only played three times, and it’s Djokovic who has the lead at 2-1 in the H2H department. Two of these three matches were played in 2024, and Djokovic won the most recent meeting in Monte Carlo.
