Murray’s lack of time on clay court could work against him as he has only played three matches on clay since the 2020 French Open. However, he will be looking for a positive result on his return to Monte Carlo after 2017. Meanwhile, de Minaur has shown consistent performances on clay in recent years and reached the semi-final of ATP Lyon in 2022. Given his preference for hard and green courts and time away from the game, it is difficult to back Murray against a seeded player.

Dealing with the change in pace at the Miami Open proved to be difficult as he was ousted by Dusan Lajovic.
