The men’s singles semi-finals are officially set for the 2024 Italian Open. That said, the first semi-final is one that many won’t have expected – Tabilo vs Zverev. Yet, as unexpected as this match is, I’ve still got some tennis predictions today for you to check out right here.
Our favourite Alejandro Tabilo vs Alexander Zverev predictions
Contents
Alejandro Tabilo is enjoying the tournament of his life right now. He won a Challenger right before Rome, and he took out Djokovic before steamrolling his way to this semi-final clash. As for Zverev, we almost expect the German to appear in these matches. But regardless, it’s all to play for, and I’ve come up with the following predictions for this match:
Tabilo to win a set – yes @ 19/20 (1.95)
Zverev has yet to lose a set at the 2024 Italian Open. However, that’s why the odds for Tabilo taking a set from the German are so appealing. And in my opinion, based on the way that Tabilo has been playing, I can definitely see him taking a set from Zverev here.
Over 21.5 games @ 7/10 (1.70)
Although I believe that Tabilo can take a set from Zverev, I don’t think that he will beat the number 3 seed when all is said and done. Zverev is just too experienced at this level, which is why I think that the match could go beyond 21.5 games if Tabilo takes a set.
Alejandro Tabilo vs Alexander Zverev odds
The most recent odds indicate that Tabilo has a 28.60% chance of winning this match, while the probability of Zverev winning this match is 77.80%.
Can Tabilo continue his miraculous run in Rome against Zverev?
It’s been a fairytale run so far for the man from Chile. But how does everything else stack up ahead of this semi-final battle? Let’s take a closer look.
Alejandro Tabilo preview
Tabilo has come from nowhere really to reach the semis of the Italian Open. He’s ranked outside of the world’s top 30, too, which makes his performances at this tournament all the more surprising. Speaking of which, he’s taken out Djokovic, Khachanov, and Zhang to make it here, so he’s obviously in the form of his life.
Alexander Zverev preview
Zverev is ranked much higher than Tabilo at 5 in the world. This alone confirms that he is used to these bigger stages, which inevitably gives him an edge against the Chilean. But as we’ve seen in the past, Zverev is always a little susceptible to a ‘wobble’ in some matches, especially for his serve and forehand.
Tabilo vs Zverev head to head
Although these two aren’t worlds apart in terms of their actual rankings, they’ve never actually played each other on the ATP Tour. This means that the Rome semi-final will be the very first meeting between the two, yet the H2H will move to 1-0 in favour of one of them when this match is over!
