At the US Open, Cerundolo lost to Jiri Vesely in the second round in five sets after previously defeating Zachary Svajda.
Cerundolo won one title this year, beating Tommy Paul in the final in Eastbourne. He also reached the final in Lyon but lost to Arthur Fils.
