The ATP Miami Masters final is now set. On Sunday, it will be Carlos Alcaraz playing Casper Ruud in what promises to be a thriller. And I’ve put together some predictions for this epic match right here.
Prediction for Carlos Alcaraz vs Casper Ruud
Contents
In Sunday’s final, this will be the second time that these guys play each other. And they have both had a pretty solid route to the finals in this event. In my personal opinion, looking at game styles, form during the tournament, and factoring in other elements, I feel that Alcaraz will win this one. This would be a maiden Masters title for the young Spaniard, and I really do think that he will get the job done tomorrow.
Latest odds: Where’s the best value?
Looking at the odds for Alcaraz to take the win, the value is okay, but not fantastic. He is heavily favored to take the win tomorrow, with odds floating around the 1.30-1.40 mark with most bookmakers. Major sportsbooks like bet365 have him listed closer to 1.30, whereas top exchanges like Betfair have him nearer the 1.40 mark. Then again, it’s up to you who you choose to bet with.
Recent form and route to the ATP Miami Final
It goes without saying that Carlos Alcaraz is one of the hottest prospects on tour right now. His 2022 season has been pretty formidable, losing just two matches so far this year. These losses came against Berrettini in the Australian Open, and Rafael Nadal in Indian Wells. Not bad losses we can probably all agree! As for Ruud, he’s lost just three games all season.
As for their routes to the final, it is undeniable that Alcaraz has had a tougher route. He has had to beat Cilic, Tsitsipas, Kecmanovic (in great form), and Hurkacz – the man who dispatched Medvedev. As for Ruud, the toughest match he had was against Zverev, who hasn’t been playing great recently. Of course, this doesn’t take away from the fact that he has still reached the finals!
Alcaraz vs Ruud H2H and notable past meetings
Interestingly, these two guys have only ever played once before. This meeting was back in April 2021. The two played in Marbella on the clay – a surface that Ruud is a bit of an expert on. And even then, Alcaraz managed to take the win in straight sets, very comfortably. Carlos Alcaraz has improved drastically since then too, as has Ruud. But I still feel that his current form and confidence over the previous win will see him through.
It’s still amazing that these two aren’t necessarily hard-court specialists either. So I do expect a battle, with plenty of long rallies.
Live streaming options: Where to watch
Unfortunately, no bookmakers will be broadcasting the Ruud vs Alcaraz game tomorrow. That’s because, in the UK, Amazon Prime has the rights to major ATP/WTA events. But if you do have a Prime subscription, you can go ahead and watch the game through your Amazon account.
