Top seed Carlos Alcaraz and third seed Daniil Medvedev will meet in the semi final of US Open, just a couple of months after they met in the same stage of another Grand Slam, Wimbledon.

The duo’s first meeting was at the hallowed grounds of the All England Club back in 2021. Alcaraz had received a wild card entry while Medvedev was the second seed at the Championships. Prior to this meeting, the Spaniard was involved in a five-set duel with lucky loser Yasutaka Uchiyama, while Medvedev beat Jan-Lennard Struff 3-1 to overcome the first hurdle.
Still transitioning from amateur to professional tennis, the then 18-year-old Alcaraz found the going tough on the green surface and its pace.
