Ajla Tomljanovic played her first match of the season at the US Open and it is questionable how prepared she is for the WTA Guadalajara tournament.

Both players are far from their top form but Townsend is at least 100% healthy. Tomljanovic got back to action at the US Open where she retired before the second round. Her form is questionable and without being ready to leave everything on the court, she has no chances against Townsend. The American is on the verge of returning to the Top 100 in the WTA rankings and this win will get her back there.

Taylor Townsend

Townsend is currently 104th in the WTA rankings and her career high was No. 61. The 27-year-old is 19-14 for the season and 5-8 on hard surface.

She reached the third round at the US Open after beating Varvara Gracheva and Beatriz Haddad Maia before losing to Karolina Muchova.

Townsend’s best result this season is the final in Florence where she lost to Jasmine Paolini. This is her first appearance in Guadalajara.
