This is the first time that these two guys have met. And to be perfectly honest, neither guy is coming into this match in amazing form. This makes it a difficult one to predict, yet like all of my predictions for the Western & Southern Open, I’ve worked with the facts and statistics to create the most valuable plays.

There is no history between these two guys, but given the styles of play, I can see this being a tight encounter. Auger-Aliassime likes to try and dominate with the forehand, while Mannarino is happy to sit back and nudge his opponents around. This kind of game can get under Auger-Aliassime’s skin, which is why an over 22.5 games market seems appealing.

Mannarino had lost his opening round in the last two tournaments in straight sets. Then again, Auger-Aliassime had lost his opening match in the last four tournaments. So as you can see, neither player is booming in form or confidence. And on a hard court, their games match up well for an even battle, hence the three sets prediction I’ve listed here.

Mannarino is a veteran of the game at 35 years of age. He’s also ranked 32 in the world, and he did capture a title just three tournaments ago, although that was on grass. Following the switch to hard courts, he’s lost to two guys ranked outside the top 70. However, he did beat Gasquet in straight sets in the opening round of the Western & Southern Open.
Felix Auger-Aliassime preview
For a guy that is definitely a top-10 player on his day, Auger-Aliassime has struggled with form in recent times. As referenced above, he lost his opening match in four consecutive events before beating Berrettini in Cincinnati. Then again, Berrettini is still on the comeback from injury, so this was a good draw for Auger-Aliassime. Furthermore, he’s ranked 14 in the world and he is the 12th seed at the Western & Southern Open.
Mannarino vs Auger-Aliassime head to head
Since these two guys have never played each other, I have zero information to share for the head-to-head statistics, unfortunately. But as referenced above, these two guys have a range of factors right now that could make this game very tight. And at the end of the day, it’s going to be 1-0 in favor of one of these two once this game is completed.
