European Masters Snooker Betting Tips

Judd Trump vs. Barry Hawkins: Hawkins +2.5 Handicap at 4/5 (1.8)

The Final of the 2023 European Masters boils down to Judd Trump vs. Barry Hawkins on Sunday. Trump, who had a fairly comfortable draw up until the semi-finals, took a deciding frame against John Higgins in the final four to book his spot in the final.

Trump is undefeated now since his World Championship exit back in April and heads to the final as the favourite. He would have been expecting to meet Mark Selby, but instead, he goes against Hawkins who pulled off a semi-final upset.

Hawkins took a 6-4 win over Selby, continuing an excellent run in Germany, which has also seen him beat reigning world champion Luca Brecel and Noppon Saengkham. Like Trump, he is undefeated in matches since his World Championship exit in April.

The head-to-head is fascinating. Hawkins has won three of the last four against Trump, including a meeting at last year’s European Masters. Hawkins may not be too far away in this one and is worth taking in a positive handicap.

Match Outright Odds: Trump 4/11 (1.36), Barry Hawkins 19/10 (2.9)

Snooker Betting Markets

There are various snooker betting markets available at online betting sites. We explore many of them for our snooker predictions. It’s worth checking out some alternative markets, just to diversify your snooker betting options.

Some of the best snooker betting markets that we dip into for snooker betting tips today are:

Match Winner

This is the simplest and most common market used for World Snooker Championship predictions. It’s a straight bet on a player to win a particular match. The odds are usually, but not exclusively, based on the players’ rankings, form, and head-to-head records.

Tournament Winner

This is a long-term market, where you bet on which player you think will come through the draw and land the title. Alternative markets to the outright winner are bets on the finalists, semi-finalists, or quarter-finalists of a tournament, which offer lower payouts but are easier to predict.

Specials

There are a lot of special markets in snooker betting, most of them simple proposition bets like who will make the highest break in a match or a tournament, who will make a 147 maximum break, how many centuries will be scored in a match or a tournament, etc.

Live Snooker Betting Tips

Follow live in-play snooker betting as well, it is an ideal sport for live wagers like Next Frame Winner and Next Frame Total Points, due to the slower pace of the game. Having access to live betting markets while watching the World Snooker Championship, is a great way to enjoy the tournament.

This year’s tournament runs from April 15th – May 1st 2023. The tournament is being broadcast by the BBC across regular broadcasts and the BBC iPlayer.

Snooker Betting Tips

To bet on snooker, you can use snooker betting predictions, some stats research and strategies to improve your chances of winning. Some of the factors to consider when betting on snooker are:

  • Form: How well has a player been performing recently? You can check their recent matches and tournaments to see their form and potentially their confidence level.
  • Head-to-head: A key aspect of research in snooker betting predictions ahead of match bets, is the way that previous meetings have gone. It may be possible to spot a trend of not only winning form from head-to-head but other factors like winning margins.
  • Style: This is how a player plays snooker, based on their strengths and weaknesses. Some players like Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump tend to be more attack-minded. You’ll find players like Mark Selby and John Higgins perhaps a touch more defensive and tactical.
  • Motivation: A defending champion has an extra focus on them, some players may be seeking big ranking points to move up to number one in the world. For some it could be prize money, or prestige. Read the news and look at snooker betting tips for insights.

About The Snooker World Championship

The Snooker World Championship is the most prestigious and lucrative tournament in professional snooker. It goes back to its origins in 1927 when Joe Davis won the title and a prize of £6.10s. Davis would go on to dominate the early days of the Snooker World Championship, winning it fifteen times on the bounce.

In 1969, heralded as the modern era of snooker, the tournament switched to a knockout format and within a decade had moved to the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, in 1977. Since then, the tournament has produced many memorable champions, such as Steve Davis, Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump.

The Snooker World Championship is also known for its long matches, lasting up to 35 frames over two days, and its high standard of play and sportsmanship. Track all the action with our World Snooker Championship predictions.
