It may feel like deja vu at the Philips Stadion this evening, as PSV host Rangers in the second leg of the Champions League playoff, in what is identical fashion to last season’s clash.

Just like last year, the two sides played out a 2-2 draw at Ibrox last week, with everything to play for tonight as one side hopes to confirm their status in the 2023/24 Champions League competition.

PSV vs Rangers predicted lineups and news

One thing for sure is that Rangers will be hoping for history to repeat itself tonight in the Netherlands, with the first leg result replicating that of last year and the second leg result having the ability to follow suit.

Last year, a second half goal from Antonio Colak at tonight’s ground sealed the job for Rangers in the second leg in what played out to be a 0-1 win for the Scots on the night, and a 3-2 aggregate win to take them to the Champions League group stage.

Team news: PSV

Unlike tonight’s visitors, PSV haven’t played since the first leg’s equally contested match-up, leaving them fresh to compete tonight for their place in the competition.

Away from Europe, the hosts have made an immaculate start to the Eredivisie, winning their opening two games and scoring a maximum six from six points so far.

Peter Bosz was faced with two injury blows at Ibrox, as he lost two centre-backs due to injury, however both Andre Ramalho and Olivier Boscagli are back in training and fit to start this evening.

The Dutch side will be without absentees Patrick van Aanholt, Armando Obispo, Mauro Junior and Fredrik Oppegard due to injury.

PSV predicted lineup

Benitez, Teze, Ramalho, Boscagli, Dest, Veerman, Sangare, Bakayoko, Saibari, Lang, De Jong

Team news: Rangers

After the high intensity affair at Ibrox last Tuesday, Michael Beale’s side travelled to Ross County to pick up their second win of the Scottish Premiership campaign. Rangers were 2-0 victors at the Global Energy Stadium, with goals from James Tavenier and Kemar Roofe sealing all three points for the visitors on the day.

In terms of tonight’s contest, Beale is set to be without Kieran Dowell due to a knee injury and Ridvan Yilmaz due to a strain, with Steven Davis remaining as a long-term absentee.

Abdallah Sima is set to return to his place of leading the line after scoring in the first leg, despite being benched on the weekend.

Rangers predicted lineup

Butland, Tavernier, Goldson, Souttar, Barisic, Raskin, Jack, Cifuentes, Cantwell, Sima, Dessers

Will Kemar Roofe play today?

After scoring against Ross County, Roofe will not feature against PSV tonight despite his impressive performance last weekend.

The Jamaican’s absence however has nothing to do with his form following his return to the starting lineup after 16 months away from the action, with registration causing him to be away from contention this evening.

After being left out of the registered squad for the qualification round, the 30-year-old will not be eligible to play.
