Many of Erling Haaland’s best goals have come in the Champions League. Even at his young age, Haaland has already featured in four campaigns, scoring an incredible 35 Champions League goals in 29 appearances. The striker has already surpassed great legends such as Gerd Muller, Wayne Rooney, Samuel Eto’o, and Luis Suárez. Of course Haaland broke the record for Premier League goals in a single season at the first attempt, and one day he may do the same in the Champions League.
For now though, let’s enjoy this selection of Haaland’s best ever Champions League goals.

Halaand’s Best Champions League Goals
Across Europe, Erling Haaland has shown that he has a natural ability in front of goal. Even from his early days with Salzburg, the young player proved to be lethal, earning his move to Dortmund.
In just four tournaments, the Man City striker has scored more than thirty goals. We have put together and ranked eight of Erling Haaland´s best ever Champions League goals.
1. Salzburg 6 – 2 Genk (17/09/2019)
On the day that we saw the Norwegian player make his debut in the top club competition, Tthe then 18-year-old introduced himself by scoring a hat-trick in front of his own fans. What was most impressive was the fact he scored all his goals in the first half. His third was his best and something we’ve witnessed many time since.
🎶 It was all a dream…

2. Liverpool 4 – 3 Salzburg (02/10/2019)
Salzburg’s second match was a difficult trip to face Liverpool at Anfield. This was Haaland’s first real test against a top team, but he showed he had no fear and scored in the 60th minute. Haaland’s perfect positioning meant he only had to tap the ball into the net after receiving a cross.
3. Genk 1 – 4 Salzburg (27/11/2019)
Salzburg’s then-number 30 scored his last Champions League goal for the Austrian side. This goal marked his fifth consecutive match-scoring since his debut, a record that will be hard to see again. Showing his instinctive nature, Haaland took advantage of a loose ball in the box and just headed it into the net. After this stellar performance in the group stage, Europe’s top teams were after the Norwegian player during the winter transfer window.
4. Dortmund 2 – 1 PSG (18/02/2020)
German club Dortmund managed to convince the striker to join The Black and Yellows, undoubtedly one of their best signings in recent years. Haaland was able to play the second part of the 2020/2021 Champions League wearing a yellow shirt after being registered in time.
In the round of 16, Dortmund met PSG. Haaland soon announced himself on the stage by scoring on his debut with a powerful shot from the edge of the box that ended up in the top corner of the goal. The forward went on to score a brace and turn the game around for Dortmund who had fallen behind earlier in the match.
5. Sevilla 2 – 2 Dortmund (09/03/2021)
After an excellent group stage in which Haaland scored a total of six goals, the Norwegian’s man of the match performance helped to overcome Sevilla in a match that would finish 5-4 in favour of the German team.
Haaland scored four of Dortmund’s five goals, with a brace in the first leg and another in the second leg. This time, Haaland took advantage of some excellent play by Marcus Reus, who carried the ball to the byline and played a pass back to the Norwegian to bury the ball into the back of the net.
6. Sevilla 0 – 4 Manchester City (06/09/2022)
This season, the Citizens’ new striker made his debut in the competition with his new team, putting the ball in the back of the net just as he did for his first two teams, but this time on a couple of occasions.
His victim was again Sevilla in the group stage. In the 67th minute, Haaland took advantage of Kevin de Bruyne’s half-cleared cross, which he acrobatically connected with.
7. Manchester City 2 – 1 Dortmund (14/09/2023)
A draw in the group stage meant the Norwegian striker would line up against his former employers, Borussia Dortmund. After a 1-1 draw, the only way to break the deadlock was for Haaland to connect with the ball after a fantastic cross from Joao Cancelo in the 86th minute, ultimately winning the match for his new club.
8. Manchester City 7 – 0 Leipzig (14/03/2023)
A day to remember for Haaland was City’s home match against Leipzig, where he took every chance he got to score, returning a staggering five goals in just 57 minutes. In doing so, the striker became the 12th player to score five goals in a Champions League match – and the only one in the last 9 years. Although it was not the best of the five goals, the fifth was undoubtedly the most special as it helped him equal this incredible record.
Totally mesmerising! 🤯

Haaland UCL goal stats: Top scorer in 2020/2021
In Haaland’s first Champions League season, he scored 10 goals, seven with Salzburg and three with Dortmund. With that figure, he was second with five goals less than Robert Lewandowski, who went on to win the tournament that year with Bayern Munich.
In the second season, the Norweigian scored the same amount of goals despite not playing in two group matches, and his team only reached the quarter-finals. Still, the Norwegian player beat Kylian Mbappe, who finished second.
Champions League Golden Boot 2023: Another individual award secured
Manchester City’s number 9 once again leads the scoring charts with 12 goals. Unless Inter Milan striker Edin Dzeko, who has four goals, scores seven goals in the Champions League Final, the Norwegian striker will not finish as top scorer, which is very unlikely to happen.
Erling Haaland came to the Citizens to help the team win the Champions League for the first time and it would be quite fitting if he is able to score in the final and land the final missing piece for the club.
