The start of the Six Nations Championship always signals that the end of winter is not too far away in the UK! With a World Cup in the calendar for later in the year, all six teams will be looking to put down an early marker during this brilliant 2023 for rugby fans.
Wales vs Ireland Preview
Wales and Ireland opened the tournament last year in Dublin whereas this competition gets underway in Cardiff at the Millenium Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Neither team had the Six Nations they were hoping for in 2022 with Wales failing to defend their title and finishing in fifth. Ireland failed to live up to pre-tournament expectations and had to settle for second place behind France.
Wales have opted to return to their previous coach, Warren Gatland, who has quite the CV in this tournament. He took Wales to Grand Slams in 2008, 2012 and 2019, after previously coaching Ireland to runners-up in 2001.
Ireland are ranked number one in the world and have a very strong recent record over Wales. Going to Cardiff and returning with a win is a tough task but one which we think this Irish side is capable of.
