The Best Petrolera vs Pasto Prediction and Picks

Petrolera and Pasto are set to do battle once again after the 0-0 draw between the two Colombian sides on Friday morning. With three games left still to play in the group stage part of the Primera A post-season, both teams still have a shot of qualifying for the playoff final. Ahead of the game, check out our free predictions and tips.

Petrolera to Win

After drawing away Pasto on Friday, Petrolera will be in a confident mood going into the return fixture at home. They have won each of their last four games on home turf and are unbeaten in the post-season which is sure to put them in a confident mood ahead of this one. Pasto, on the other hand, are yet to win a game in the post-season and they aren’t the same team away from home. We expect a relatively comfortable day at the office for Petrolera.

Under 2.5 Goals

While Petrolera are one of the most expansive teams in the league, Pasto are anything but and we expect their dogged defence to dig in and make life difficult for the home team even if they do go a goal behind. Pasto are coming into the game on the back of two 0-0 results and only one of their previous five games has seen more than two goals scored. The longer the game goes on, the more frustrated the home side will get and we are struggling to see how this one becomes a goal-fest.

BTTS – No

As mentioned, Pasto aren’t exactly known for their goalscoring exploits and have scored just once in three Group A matches. Out of the eight teams that qualified for the post-season, they have the worst goalscoring record and we expect that to continue away at Petrolera. A 1-0 or 2-0 victory for the home side is what we are predicting.

Petrolera vs Pasto: Another tactical affair on the cards

Petrolera

Petrolera have never won the Primera A title but there is a very real chance that that could all change this season. They are currently joint-top of Group A with Atletico Nacional who have a tough game against Aguilas on Monday. If Atletico fail to win that match, and Petrolera beat Pasto, then Hubert Bodhert’s men will be within touching distance of the playoff final. Expect Bodhert to go full-strength here with no injuries or suspensions in his squad.

Pasto

Pasto snuck into the post-season after finishing 8th in the league table and the limitations within their squad have been evident in Group A. Although they have been dogged at the back, with Diego Martinez playing superbly between the sticks, they have struggled for goals. Edwar Lopez’s goals have dried up and there is very little coming from elsewhere. Having said that, if they do manage to beat Petrolera on Monday then the playoff final is once again a very real possibility.
