How old is Thiago Seyboth Wild?

Seyboth Wild was born on March 10, 2000 in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. From a very early age, he began to give his first shots, but his parents were not sure that the boy would follow in this sport, less in a country whose main sport is football. However, it didn’t take long for the youngster to bring out his talent and make his way in this discipline.

He made his professional debut in 2018, after winning the Junior US Open that year, becoming only the second Brazilian to achieve this milestone.

Thiago Seyboth Wild’s Career Statistics

When he was 19 years old, he won his first Challenger in Ecuador. This title allowed him to climb to the 235th position in the ATP ranking, becoming the third Brazilian tennis player of the moment behind Joao Menezes and Thiago Monteiro. Monteiro, along with Seyboth Wild, were the only Brazilians to qualify for the first round of the 2023 French Open.

2020 was one of the 23-year-old’s best years, as he received a wildcard to participate in the ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro. There he defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, but then lost to Borna Coric. He then received another wildcard to participate in the ATP 250 in Santiago. In this tournament, Thiago defeated a total of 5 opponents, highlighting Cristian Garin, who was number 18 in the ranking. The Brazilian tennis player met in the final with the Norwegian Casper Ruud, both battled for 3 sets, and finally Seyboth Wild lifted his first ATP 250 title.

Since then, the Brazilian player has mostly participated in Challengers, in fact, he recently reached the final in Santiago but lost to Hugo Dellien.

Current ATP Rankings of Thiago Seyboth Wild

He is currently ranked 172, but it should be noted that in 2020 he was close to entering the top 100, but only reached the 106th position. The Brazilian tennis player will probably get close to this mark again after his victory over Daniil Medvedev.

Thiago Seyboth Wild’ Latest Results

The 23-year-old had to overcome a tough qualifying round in which he defeated Switzerland’s Antoine Bellier in straight sets. He then needed three sets to overcome Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis. His final hurdle to qualify for the first round of Roland Garros 2023 was perhaps the easiest, as he dispatched Germany’s Dominik Koepfer in just 53 minutes.

The draw handed Thiago one of the toughest opponents he could have faced. None other than one of the main seeds, the world number 2, Daniil Medvedev. Most of the ATP French Open predictions left no room for doubt that the favourite to advance to the next round was the Russian, most of the odds wouldn´t be right.

After winning the first set in a tight tiebreak, the Brazilian player made it clear that something incredible would happen on this day. Medvedev equalised on the scoreboard, but it took another tiebreak. In the third set, everything was easier for Daniil who took the lead after winning 2-6.

When it looked like it was all over, Thiago Seyboth Wild came back with some great shots to take the fourth set 6-3. It all came down to a final set in which Daniil Medvedev converted 2 break points, but the Brazilian converted 3 to take an impressive win and advance to the next round.

With this result, the Russian is likely to drop a few places in the rankings, while Thiago Seyboth Wild is on his way to reach maybe the best position in the ATP rankings in his entire career.
