Premier League side Chelsea will not sell promising defender Levi Colwill this summer despite interest from elite clubs who may be willing to pay large sums.
It has been reported that the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool are interested in acquiring the center back’s services but the Blues are unwilling to sell the on-loan player to their rivals.
The young defender has ascended through the Chelsea youth system, but he has yet to make his senior team debut.

Colwill is presently on loan at Brighton, where he is assisting the South Coast club in its push for European qualification.
The 20-year-old has been impressive in his 15 appearances for the Seagulls, which includes 10 Premier League games.
According to a recent report, Manchester City and Liverpool are reportedly contemplating a summer transfer for the high potential defender.
The belief was that Chelsea may be prepared to part ways with the youngster in order to meet Financial Fair Play regulations after spending £600 million on transfers in the previous two transfer windows.
Under the leadership of American owner Todd Boehly, the London side have spent an absolutely phenomenal amount on players from all over Europe.
Despite this, the side are enjoying one of their worst seasons in the English top flight in some time.
The Blues currently sit in 11th position and with no European football secured for next season, they may have to sell many players to make up for their lavish spending.
Colwill Won’t Be Sold in Summer
The club could generate sheer profit by selling academy graduates such as Colwill, Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
However, talkSPORT reports that Chelsea will not consider offers for Colwill during the impending summer transfer window.
According to the report, the Stamford Bridge hierarchy views the left-footed central defender as a future key component.
Colwill will compete with Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana, and Benoit Badiashile for a starting position in the Chelsea defense next season.
This news has been reported despite the fact that Chelsea do not have any certainty over who their manager will be in 2023/24.
Thomas Tuchel was fired from his role as manager early this season while his successor Graham Potter got the sack less just two weeks ago.
Former manager and club legend Frank Lampard has come in on an interim basis but under his guidance the side have lost three games out of three.
With that in mind, he’s unlikely to secure a long-term contract at the club. Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann are currently the favorites for the job.
Colwill Contract Extension Likely
Regardless of head coach, Colwill is likely to receive a contract extension in the coming months.
The defender is under contract with the Blues until 2025, but the West London club is reportedly eager to offer him an extension.
Colwill was ineligible to play against his primary club in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The result left Chelsea in eleventh place in the Premier League table and kept Brighton in the chase for European competition in seventh place.
Colwill will be available for Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final between Brighton and Manchester United.
