Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid predicted lineups and news

Atletico Madrid already have ground to make up in La Liga. Their match with Sevilla was postponed on the fourth weekend and they then suffered a woeful 3-0 defeat to Valencia having gone three weeks without a game. They’d be 11 points behind their rivals were they to lose this with Real Madrid currently setting the pace at the top.

This game will be shown live all around the world. In the UK, it’s a 20:00 kick off on ITV4 as well as the usual channels for Spanish league matches.

Team news: Atletico Madrid

Atleti have been dealing with a real injury crisis which goes some way to explaining their heavy loss last weekend. The good news is that they may finally be able to welcome Koke and Jose Maria Gimenez into the fold here which will be a big boost to the spine of their side.

However they’ve just lost Thomas Lemar to a long-term injury while Pablo Barrios and Rodrigo De Paul are also sidelined which leaves Diego Simeone very short on midfield options.

Caglar Soyuncu and Reinildo are other absentees while Memphis Depay is a doubt. They’ve also recently sold Yannick Carrasco who was on target in Atleti’s last victory, a dominant 7-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.

Atletico Madrid predicted lineup

Oblak, Hermoso, Gimenez, Savic, Lino, Saul, Koke, Llorente, Molina, Morata, Griezmann

Team news: Real Madrid

Real Madrid can certainly relate to Atleti’s woes on the injury front. Their problems aren’t quite as extensive but they are still missing three key players with Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao out until next year, while this game is likely to come too soon for Vini Junior.

Dani Carvajal is the fourth first team regular to be out, but Los Blancos have managed to find a way to win despite their selection problems. It’s six victories from six games in all competitions this season after Jude Bellingham again struck late to see off Union Berlin in the Champions League in midweek.

Los Blancos are likely to again go with Bellingham playing in behind Joselu and Rodrygo here as they bid to break down Diego Simeone’s team.

Real Madrid predicted lineup

Kepa, Fran Garcia, Alaba, Rudiger, Nacho, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Valverde, Bellingham, Joselu, Rodrygo

Will Jude Bellingham play?

Despite his goalscoring heroics continuing against Union Berlin, Bellingham has been dealing with stomach problems which caused him to leave training early on Friday. However he has two days to recover in time for the Madrid derby and is still expected to play.
