Newcastle United vs Burnley predicted lineups: Joelinton to be benched

Newcastle United vs Burnley predicted lineups – Nobody is in the slightest bit surprised to see these teams sitting where they currently are. And with Newcastle fresh off the back of a Sheffield slaughter and a Mancunian masterstroke that saw them hit nine unanswered goals in total, there seems to be only one winner here.

Newcastle United vs Burnley predicted lineups and news

Newcastle’s 1-0 midweek win over Manchester City is as sure a sign as any that the Magpies are taking every competition seriously this term, after coming up short in their first major final for 24 years back in February.

Meanwhile, Burnley picked up an easy 4-0 away victory against Salford City on Tuesday, resting a number of their recognised starters. Turning to the league, however, Burnley needs to pick up results, after securing just one point so far this season.

Team News: Newcastle

Joelinton made a surprise appearance starting mid-week against City, though we suspect he’ll be left on the bench for this game. Apart from Pope, the entire 11 against Sheffield were rested against City so we suspect mostly the same team. Almiron is the one oddity, with Howe saying “Everyone fit in at the (City) game”, so we suspect in that regard everyone is ok.

As far as those missing, Willock is likely to return after the next international break, while Harvey Barnes is set to miss a couple of months of action. Isak went off having opened the scoring against City on Wednesday night, looking in some discomfort, though in the post-match interview, he said he was”feeling ok”. Guimarães also looked to have a slight knock, but carried on for the rest of the game. Overall, it looks like just Joe Willock is not set to take any part in the game.

Team News: Burnley

Lyle Foster will continue to serve his 3-game ban for a red card, while Gudmundsson, Ekdal, De Silva, Obafemi, and Churlinov will all remain out for the Newcastle game. Tuesday night saw another potential injury in Benson, with the winger carrying on after getting an early knock. It’s been a rough start for Burnley, though heavy rotations against Salford means Burnley should be in good shape.

The good news for Burnley is it looks like Vitinho (pictured below) will be back to face Newcastle, having played 65 minutes in the week. One man who might step up for the trip to Newcastle is Anass Zaroury, who picked up three assists against Salford. His league form has been fairly poor though, including a red card against Man City.

Newcastle United vs Burnley predicted lineups – Will Anthony Gordon play against Burnley?

Gordon has been a revelation for Newcastle this season, and he’s been a key player in all of the team’s recent matches. His substation for the injured Barnes was a turning point against Sheffield, and Gordon was again the catalyst against City.

While he struggled when he first signed, Gordon put his head down and claimed a title for England at the U21 Euros. Returning as player of the tournament, Gordon has become a key man for Newcastle, with two goals already so far this season.

Gordon has shown a level of maturity above his age, finding pockets of space on the left flank and devastating defences as he does it. His ability to run at defenders has always been a huge problem, so Roberts in particular will need to be on his best form to deal with him.
