Tottenham vs Fulham predicted lineups – More Maddison magic on the cards

Tottenham Hotspur will face Fulham on Monday night as this weekend’s Premier League action comes to an end. The home side know that a win would send them two points clear at the top of the table after Arsenal drew 2-2 with Chelsea and that alone should be more than enough incentive for them to be at their best on Monday night. The match will kick off at 20:00 UK time and fans will be able to watch it live on Sky Sports.

Tottenham vs Fulham Premier League team news

Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou has had a phenomenal start to life at Tottenham and much of that has been down to being able to pick a consistent midfield. That all changes on Monday night as he will be without Yves Bissouma who is serving a one-match suspension following his red card against Luton Town.

Pierre-Emiel Hojberg is likely to be the man to replace Bissouma in the starting eleven although Postecoglou may be tempted to start Rodrigo Bentancur who is back in full training after a long injury layoff. The Uruguayan is, however, far more likely to start on the bench with a short cameo towards the end of the game possible.

The Spurs boss has also confirmed Son Heung-Min and Cristian Romero are both fine after both players received knocks on international duty. Meanwhile, Brennan Johnson is also available with the Welsh forward now fully fit again after a hamstring injury.

Fulham

For Marco Silva, the biggest injury concern relates to Issa Diop. The centre back was injured in the build-up to Sheffield United’s goal against Fulham last time out and hasn’t recovered well enough over the international break to be available for the match against Tottenham.

With Diop out, Calvin Bassey should be in line for a start. The Nigerian defender hasn’t managed to become a regular in Marco Silva’s side since his summer transfer from Ajax but Diop’s injury presents him with a golden opportunity to stake his claim. Fellow defender, Tosin Adarabioyo, is also unavailable.

Other absentees for Fulham include Kenny Tete and Adama Traore, a player once linked with a move to Tottenham. Up top, Silva will have to decide between Carlos Vinicius and Raul Jimenez. Between them, they have managed just one league goal this season, something that will greatly concern Silva.

Featured duel: Maddison vs Palhinha

James Maddison has already proven to be one of the best Premier League signings of the summer after his excellent start to life in a Tottenham shirt. The England international has scored two goals and provided five assists in eight Premier League games, all of which have come away from home.

Maddison will be hoping to break his Tottenham Hotspur Stadium duck on Monday night but his direct opponent, Palhinha, won’t be easy to play against. The Fulham defensive midfielder was linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the summer and is considered one of the best players in his position in the league. Last season, Palhinha made 47 more tackles than any other player in the Premier League so Maddison will be in for a physical match.

Tottenham vs Fulham  predicted lineups – The final word

Tottenham have been flying this season and the fact they have the opportunity to move clear at the top of the table on Monday provides an interesting backdrop to this fixture. Spurs have long been accused of having a soft core and pressure games like this will test the validity of those accusations early on in the season. Despite that, we think they will have too much for Fulham. We’re going for Tottenham 3-1 Fulham.
