Manchester United travel to Burnley on Saturday night in a game that feels crucial for the Red Devils following a terrible start to the season. Their hosts, Burnley, have also been underwhelming so far and have only managed to pick up one point from their opening four Premier League fixtures. The match is set to kick off at 20:00 UK time and will be played at Turf Moor.

Burnley vs Man Utd predicted lineups and news

After losing 4-3 to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, Man Utd come into this one with their backs very much against the wall. The dressing room leaks against the manager have already begun so this feels like a very important match for Ten Hag and those who are still behind him.

Burnley aren’t going to just roll over though, and their head-to-head record against United is impressive. Vincent Kompany would love nothing more than to get his first win of the season against the Reds.

Team news: Burnley

The biggest loss for Vincent Kompany and Burnley for the visit of Manchester United is Lyle Foster, who begins his three-match domestic suspension tonight. The centre-forward, who thought he’d won the game late on against Nottingham Forest last week, was given a straight red card in stoppage time of the same match for violent conduct.

With Foster unavailable, Jay Rodriguez looks like he could be in line for a start although new signing Aaron Ramsey could also get the nod. Whoever does replace Foster will have to forge a partnership with Zeki Amdouni, who scored his first goal for his new club on Monday night.

In terms of injuries, Michael Obafemi remains absent due to a hamstring injury and Hjalamar Ekdal is out with a knee problem. There are also doubts about the fitness of Vitinho and Kompany will have to make a late decision on the Brazilian defender.

Team news: Man Utd

Considering we’re only five weeks into the new Premier League season, the list of absentees at Old Trafford is quite staggering. That list grew to 13 this week when it was revealed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire had both picked up injuries, with Wan-Bissaka’s believed to be quite a bad hamstring strain.

There’s a chance that Ten Hag could welcome back a couple of players for the trip to Burnley, though. In his pre-match press conference, he confirmed that Mason Mount, Raphael Varane and Sofyan Amrabat all have a chance of making the matchday squad although it remains to be seen whether any of them will be fit enough to start the match.

In other positive news, Kobbie Mainoo has returned to individual training as the promising youngster prepares to return to the first-team fold. However, the likes of Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Amad are all still out while Jadon Sancho is still unavailable for selection after falling out with the manager a couple of weeks ago.

Brazilian winger, Antony, is also still unavailable following accusations of domestic assault. As a result, Facundo Pellistri could earn his first-ever Premier League start on Saturday night.

Man Utd predicted lineup

Onana, Dalot, Martinez, Varane, Reguilon, Amrabat, Casemiro, Fernandes, Pellistri, Hojlund, Rashford

Will Sofyan Amrabat play today?

When Man Utd signed Sofyan Amrabat on loan on deadline day, United fans were excited about the prospect of having more physicality in the middle of the park. Unfortunately, a back niggle has kept the Moroccan out of action thus far but there is a chance he starts the game against Burnley after he returned to training earlier in the week.
