Australia will be gearing up for their last game of the Rugby World Cup against a Portugal Side with nothing to lose on Sunday, 1st October, at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. The Advancement of the Wallabies hangs on a thin line after their loss to Wales. To advance from their pool, they must defeat Portugal and hope results elsewhere go in their favor.

Australia vs. Portugal lineups and news

The Wallabies’ World Cup campaign has gotten off to a rocky start, with losses to Fiji and Wales. This has led to many questions and alarms, as many expected more from them.

With slim chances of reaching the knockout stages, the match against Portugal is an opportunity for the Wallabies to restore some pride. Portugal has impressed so far in the tournament with their free-flowing style of play and will be looking to cause an upset, but we can’t write off Australia just yet.

Team news: Australia

The Australian team, on the back of their worst defeat at a World Cup, may be looking to make a few changes to the team they fielded last time out. Eight players in that game were 25 or less, and they may be looking to introduce more experience to the team.

This may be difficult as more players on the team have never had World Cup experience. They’ll be looking to Stand in Captain David Porecki for the much-needed leadership on the field of play come Sunday.

Portugal will be looking to clinch their first World Cup win, and we don’t expect any changes to the team they fielded last time out, almost snatching a win against Georgia. Raffaele Storti would be looking to replicate the heroics and swing the game in their favor.

Will we see will Skelton play today?

Australian captain Will Skelton will not lead the Wallabies to the field against Portugal. This is due to an injury picked up in training. This injury kept him out of the game against Wales.

He hopes they win and advance to the knockout phase of the World Cup, but if they do, they will have to best Portugal without him. Catch the game live!
