Djokovic has proven that 36 is the new 26 and will arrive at Flushing Meadows in search of his fourth US Open title. A moment of madness hurt his chances in 2021, and he was not allowed to participate in last year’s edition due to his COVID-19 vaccination status.

After reaching the landmark of 23 Grand Slams and the heartache of failing to equalize Roger Federer’s 8 Wimbledon Championships claim, Djokovic will only have glory on his mind. World number 1, Carlos Alcaraz dashed his dreams at the All England Club in an epic five-setter and the Serbian legend would only been more resolute in his attempt at Flushing Meadows.

Novak Djokovic´s next match – US Open final vs Daniil Medvedev

Djokovic has not been made to wait to triumph at Australian Open or Wimbledon. Even French Open has succumbed to his magnanimity with relative ease of late. The US Open remains an enigma and he is awaiting his next triumph this time around.

He was crowned champion in 2018 and most recently stopped by Daniil Medvedev in the 2021 final. Novak will be facing Megamind again for the showpiece event this time around. The Russian ace defeated Carlos Alcaraz in an emphatic fashion and had the tools to cause him problems. Moreover, Medvedev has a more than decent record against him when he is the world number 1 and Djokovic takes that title this Monday.

Novak Djokovic´s 2023 campaign so far

This year appeared to be practically perfect for the tennis star who surpassed Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in terms of Grand Slams. After dominating the Australian Open and then Roland Garros, the likelihood of winning all four Majors in the same season was great.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion advanced to the final for the seventh time in a row. Despite being the world number two, Djokovic was the favourite after winning this Grand Slam from 2018 to 2022. Nonetheless, he faced the number Carlos Alcaraz in the final, who will be his major competition at least until the Serbian tennis star quits.

Djokovic fought for 5 sets, but the Spanish player took the victory. This defeat means that Novak will not only miss out on winning the four Grand Slams, but he will also miss out on being the greatest in the world for a few more weeks.
