A first leg draw

If you look at the last five matches for each team they can only muster the solitary win between them; that was Valur as they beat Hafnarfjordur. The match prior to that they had drawn and since that win they’ve lost three on the spin. Bodo/Glimt meanwhile have drawn two and lost three of their prior five games. Why are we backing a draw in this prediction? Well, the winning habit is hard to come by and neither of these teams know how to do it.

Valur will have the better of it

We’ve sat on the fence with our first prediction. If we were pushed on backing a winner though we would lean towards the hosts, Valur. For one thing, they have home advantage but, more importantly, their home form is better than the overall form we touched on in the first of our tips. They’ve won three of their last five on their own patch. As for Bodo/Glimt’s away form, it reads as drawn two and lost three.

We’ll see a few goals

Wins might be in limited supply where Valur and Bodo/Glimt are concerned but goals have still been flowing. We expect this match will end north of the 2.5 mark too. Valur have a game average of 2.8 goals with two of their last three going beyond 2.5. Bodo/Glimt’s form is even more goal filled. Three of their last four have exceeded two goals whilst their game average over the past five matches is 3.2.

Valur vs Bodo/Glimt: A match between two out of form sides

Valur

Valur might have lost their last three matches with just one win in their last five but their form hasn’t always been that ropey. Look a bit longer term and you’ll see that they’ve only lost four of their last 10 with five wins recorded in that time. They need to get back amongst the goals to get back to winning ways though so players like Sigurdur Egill Larusson and Patrick Pedersen will come under pressure to turn it on.

Bodo/Glimt

Much like Valur, Bodo/Glimt are in poor form at the moment with things improving slightly if you look a tad further back. Being winless in five though will mean those positive results are a long way off in the memory books now. They’ll be looking to Patrick Berg and Ulrik Saltnes to dictate the midfield. If they can impose themselves on the match then they’ll have a much better chance of getting a result.
