Rangers vs Hearts – Predictions, Odds & Best Betting Tips

Rangers suffered an agonising defeat in the Europa League final on Wednesday evening. Will they bounce back to win here? Find out with our Rangers vs Hearts preview here along with the predictions and free tips we mention along the way.

Backing Hearts to spring a surprise

This is an almighty thing to claim but we’ve got a feeling Hearts might find a way to nick this game. Admittedly, they’ve been in poor form and have just lost to Rangers a week ago whilst Rangers have been in strong form of late with just one 90 minute defeat in their last 10. Rangers though were in action against Frankfurt in the week and it was an energy sapping match and occasion with the Gers eventually losing on penalties. Hearts will lift their game and Rangers might be a tad ‘off it’. That will open the door to a shock.

Both teams to score

Our next prediction for this game is that both teams will score goals. Rangers have scored in nine of their last 10 games and, notably, they’ve only kept one clean sheet in that period as well. Hearts have a very similar record; they have scored in each of their last nine matches and, again, have managed to record just the one shutout. The last meeting between these two, which was on May 14th, ended with goals at both ends as well.

North of 2.5 goals

Lastly, we are making the bet that this cup final will go north of 2.5 goals. Three of Rangers’ last five matches have gone over that threshold with an average of 3.4 goals per game in that period. Hearts meanwhile have only come up south of the 2.5 mark in one of their last five games; they’ve seen a total of 17 goals in that time – that’s also a 3.4 goals per game average. Each of the last two head to heads have gone over 2.5 goals too.

Rangers vs Hearts: Team News

Rangers

Defeat here will ensure what could have been an amazing season for Rangers actually being a poor one. They should beat Hearts but after the heartache of Wednesday night – and the miles it put in their legs owing to the extra time – makes this much more difficult. They’ll look to James Tavernier to lead them to glory.

Hearts

Hearts were the next best side in Scotland this year behind Celtic and Rangers so whilst they do face a big task here, they won’t be too worried about it. In fact, they’ll probably be confident of getting a result here after the slugfest Rangers were involved in during the week. Liam Boyce is the man who will be tasked with scoring the goals.
