Oxford to Win

Last season in League One, Oxford and Crewe both won a game each, both away from home. However, Crewe probably still remember their loss to Oxford since that game ended with six goals in Crewe’s net. Since Oxford started the season better than Crewe, and taking that huge win into account, we expect Oxford to win this game as well.

Under 2.5 Total Goals

We’ve mentioned that the second duel between these two teams last season ended with six goals, but we’ve seen just two goals in the first one. Also, only one of the first six matches played by these two teams in all competitions has gone over 2.5 total goals, so we expect to see a low-scoring game. Our prediction for this match is under 2.5 total goals.

Both Teams to Score – No

Both of the most recent head-to-head matches between Oxford and Crewe have ended without both teams scoring and we expect to see the same in their upcoming duel. That being said, the first three Oxford games of the season in all competitions have ended with both teams scoring, but this only happened in one of the three Crewe games this season.

Oxford vs Crewe preview: Can Oxford stay in good form?

With the home team in better form, they are the favourites in the match. Still, this could be a very interesting duel, so let’s check both teams out in more detail:

Oxford

The team from one of the best-known university towns in the world had a good season in League One last year, in which they finished in 6th place and reached the playoffs. However, they failed to achieve promotion to Championship after they were eliminated by Blackpool in the semi-finals. Oxford started the new season well too, with a win over Charlton and a draw at Cambridge. The team also eliminated Burton Albion in the EFL Cup after penalties.

Crewe

Last season, Crewe earned a spot in the middle of the table in League One. While that was not a bad result, they were too far away from competing for the playoffs, so their fans are probably hoping for an improvement this season. Crewe started the season in League One with a loss to Portsmouth and a draw with Cheltenham. On the bright side, Crewe eliminated Hartlepool in the EFL Cup.
