Both teams to take a point

We kick off our trio of tips by making the prediction this match will end with the points shared. Aberdeen have been in somewhat of a rut of late as they’re winless in five, however, they’ve taken a decent away draw at Hearts and a further point last time out with Ross County. Whilst a win would be nice, visiting a Motherwell side that have just won two games on the spin won’t be an easy task. You do need to take those Motherwell wins in context though as they’ve come against two of the lesser fancied teams in the division; a draw here would further consolidate their good form.

Far from a classic

A point a piece in this game as we predicted a moment ago would be a good result for both teams. That does not mean it will be a good game because, for neutrals, it could be rather painful. Motherwell have seen a total of 12 goals across their last five matches giving them a game average of 2.4 goals. Three of those five games have fallen under the 2.5 goals threshold. That’s exactly the same as Aberdeen; they too have seen 12 goals in five games with only two going over the 2.5 mark.

A goal each and thank you very much

Finally, we end our predictions with a correct score prediction of 1-1. We’ve already touched on the fact we think this match will be low scoring and the goal scoring prowess – or lack of it – is behind the 1-1 betting tip. Aberdeen have scored a total of four goals in their last five games; that’s an average of 0.8. Motherwell have scored six; an average of 1.2 per game. On top of that, both teams have recorded 1-1 draws in their last five games. Motherwell have done so once compared to the two one all draws Aberdeen can boast.

Motherwell vs Aberdeen: Summary preview

Motherwell

Motherwell’s form is best described as inconsistent. It’s been that way since pre-season ended and the league cup began to be honest. A couple of wins here, a splattering of draws and a few defeats thrown in for good measure. Now though, they’ve won two league games on the spin and with a home game up next will hope to make it three unbeaten. They’ll be doing it without Jake Carroll though; he’s suspended after being sent off last time out.

Aberdeen

It wasn’t too long ago that Aberdeen had recorded four wins on the bounce but, inside the dressing room, it will feel like a while ago because it’s not all that often that Aberdeen go five games without a win. A trip to Fir Park is far from easy either. In terms of who will play Connor McLennan might be back from injury but Andrew Considine and Ryan Hedges remain out.
