Wigan to Win
Wigan kept the pressure on Rotherham at League One’s summit with a comfortable 2-0 win at Crewe on Tuesday evening and the Latics can claim their fifth victory in six matches when they host Morecambe this weekend. The Shrimps have shipped eight goals in their last two matches and they should provide little resistance to Leam Richardson’s title chasers.
Over 1.5 Wigan Team Goals
Morecambe were torn to shreds in a 5-0 drubbing to a normally goal-shy Shrewsbury outfit on Tuesday and with their confidence dented, another difficult afternoon is in store at Wigan. The Latics have notched at least twice in three of their last five home assignments and they have enough quality in the final third to bag at least two more efforts this weekend.
Will Keane to Score Anytime
Will Keane scored his 18th goal of an increasingly prolific campaign in League One against Crewe on Tuesday and the centre-forward is Wigan’s dangerman again this weekend. Keane found the net in each of his last two league appearances at the DW Stadium and he bagged on of his team’s two goals when Wigan beat The Shrimps in January. Expect the Republic of Ireland international to do some more damage on Saturday.
Wigan vs Morecambe Match Preview and Team News
Wigan
Jordan Cousins, Scott Smith, Thelo Aasgaard and Charlie Wyke are all listed as injured for Wigan, while Luke Robinson is considered doubtful. Callum Lang and James McClean should be back in the squad following suspension however, giving Wigan a timely double-boost ahead of another crucial fixture.
Morecambe
Adam Phillips, Rhys Bennett, Aaron Wildig, Kyle Letheren and Ryan McLaughlin all missed Morecambe’s 5-0 reverse at Shrewsbury in midweek and all five players remain doubtful. Freddie Price is a confirmed absentee through injury. The Shrimps are third from bottom in League One and they are playing with the air of a side wracked by relegation fears.
