Wigan to Win
Wigan are hunting down top spot in League One and their recent run of four wins in five games is a haul worthy of potential title winners. Athletic are on a real roll and they look ready to claim three more points on Saturday against a Bolton side they thumped 4-0 back in October. Wigan have only lost once at home since then, so back the hosts to prevail.
Over 1.5 Wigan Team Goals
Only Oxford have scored more goals than Wigan in League One this term and the free-wheeling Latics could flex their attacking muscles again on Saturday. As we discussed in our first prediction, Wigan smashed four goals past a hapless Bolton side when the teams last met before Christmas and Leam Richardson’s charges will be hoping for a repeat performance in Saturday’s rematch. With that in mind, a stake on Wigan in the over 1.5 team goals market is advised.
Will Keane to Score Anytime
Fresh from seeing minutes for the Republic of Ireland against Belgium during the international break, Will Keane should be brimming with confidence this weekend, which in turn makes him an option worth considering in the anytime goalscorer market. Keane notched one of his 19 league goals against Bolton in October and he can make his mark against the same opponents on Saturday.
Wigan vs Bolton Match Preview and Team News
Wigan
Jordan Cousins, Theo Aasgaard and Charlie Wyke are all still carrying injuries for Wigan, though second top scorer Callum Lang is available again following suspension. Wigan hammered Morecambe 4-1 before the international break and they have lost just one of their last ten matches in League One overall.
Bolton
Bolton will hope to have some members of injured parties Gethin Jones, Lloyd Isgrove, Kieran Lee, Marlon Fossey and Josh Sheehan back in the squad for their short trip to play Wigan on Saturday. Wanderers’ results before the international break were a mixed bag and their chances of launching a late playoff bid are evaporating fast.
