Sligo Rovers to Win
Sligo snapped a five-game search for a win with a timely victory at Finn Harps on Monday and Rovers can push for another three points against Drogheda this weekend. Sligo produced one of their most convincing displays of the campaign so far when they beat Drogs 3-0 in March and Liam Buckley’s side are well priced to enjoy another comfortable evening against the same opponents on Saturday.
Over 1.5 Sligo Rovers Goals
Sligo’s attackers cut through Drogheda’s defence with ease at Head in the Game Park in March and the same set of forwards can slice through the same rearguard in Saturday’s return fixture. Rovers have already scored at least twice in five of their 11 Premier Division fixtures this term and a stake on the hosts in the over 1.5 team goals market appeals again at the prices on offer.
First Half Result: Sligo Rovers
Sligo were three goals to the good by half time when they beat Drogheda last month and back at The Showground for Saturday’s rematch, we expect Rovers to be in command again by the break. The gap in class between the sides was evident in March, so back Sligo to get their noses in front by half time again this weekend.
Sligo Rovers vs Drogheda United Match Preview and Team News
Sligo Rovers
Defender Robert McCourt is considered a doubt for Sligo ahead of Saturday’s game, though manager Liam Buckley has a strong squad to choose from elsewhere with injury issues few and far between. Rovers can climb up to third spot in the Premier Division if results go their way this week.
Drogheda United
Darragh Markey is a doubt for Drogheda with a muscle complaint, though coach Kevin Doherty has few fitness problems to contend with overall. The Drogs have drawn four of their last five games and though they have been hard to beat, their harrowing 3-0 loss to Sligo in March will still be relatively fresh in their players’ minds.
