Bolton to Win
Doncaster earned three points at the weekend, though their win came against bottom club and relegation bound Crewe and Rovers had lost a dismal nine of their previous ten fixtures at the Eco-Power Stadium before that. Bolton swept Donny aside 3-0 when the teams last met in late November and egged on by that success, Wanderers can push for maximum points at Doncaster’s expense again on Friday.
Both Teams to Score
We expect Ian Evatt’s Bolton to pocket the points in South Yorkshire on Friday, though there is enough recent evidence to suggest that Doncaster could notch a consolation effort against Wanderers. Bolton have kept just one clean sheet in their last six matches, while each of their last three fixtures in the third tier have produced goals at both ends. Expect that pattern to continue in Doncaster this week.
First Half Result: Draw
Both Doncaster and Bolton have been underwhelming first half performers this term and they have been ahead at the break in just six and nine of their 42 League One fixtures this season respectively. 45% of Rovers’ and 42.8% of Wanderers’ tussles have been all square at half time and those records should give bettors enough confidence to back a draw in the half time result market again on Friday.
Doncaster vs Bolton Match Preview and Team News
Doncaster
Jon Taylor, Ben Close, Feiji Okenabirhie, captain Tom Anderson and Kieran Agard are all listed as absent for Doncaster this week, while defender Cameron John is also considered a doubt. Rovers are still languishing in second last position in League One, despite their 2-0 win over bottom club Crewe last time out.
Bolton
Bolton have a number of injury issues to contend with this week, with Kieran Lee, Ricardo Santos, Kyle Dempsey, Oladapo Afolayan, Lloyd Isgrove, Andy Tutte, Marlon Fossey and Josh Sheehan all nursing complaints. Wanderers have faced a tough gauntlet of fixtures of late, though draws against highflying trio Wigan, Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday were all admirable results in the circumstances.
