Match Result: Draw

Dallas and Colorado were bumper-to-bumper last season, with the former finishing a place below the latter in sixth. Both teams won 3 games from their last 5 in the regular season, and the last 5 games between the two sides led to two wins apiece with a draw. 31.6% of the ties between the Dallas and Colorado have ended in ties, which is ~ 1 draw in every 3 games.

Double Chance: Dallas or Draw

71.1% of the ties between Dallas and Colorado have ended in either a draw or a Dallas win, with 42% of that being wins for Dallas. Dallas have finished above Colorado in 3 of the last 4 regular season conference standings, indicating the Texans will likely either take the points or choose to lose them as recent history illustrates Dallas are a superior team.

Total Goals Over/Under: Under 2.5 Goals

FC Dallas scored only 1.27 goals per game (28goals from 22games), the fourth-lowest in the Western Conference. Colorado, on the other hand, scored 1.78 goals per game (32, but from 18 games because Covid). No players from both teams were in the MLS top 10 for goals or assists, so there is clearly a dearth of goals amongst these teams. The game will then not be a goal fest as a result.

Dallas vs Colorado Rapids Preview and Team News

Dallas

Luchi Gonzalez is the head coach of FC Dallas. A former MLS player himself, Gonzalez was academy director of Dallas’ youth teams for six years before getting the top job in 2018. His win percentage is 37.7%. Dallas come into their opening game with a fully fit squad. Veteran Argentine forward Franco Jara was Dallas’ top scorer last season with 7 goals, and will aim to do even better in the new season.

Colorado Rapids

Former USMNT defender Robin Fraser is at the helm of the Rapids. Fraser has been head coach since 2019, and his 50%-win percentage is impressive with a team not in the upper echelon of the MLS. The Rapids open their regular season with a fit squad for the most part, with only centre-back Kortne Ford out with a knee injury. As Ford hasn’t played for the Rapids since 2018, he is not a big miss for Colorado.
