Celtic to Win

Celtic won their fourth fixture on the spin at the weekend with a 3-2 victory over Hearts in Glasgow and it’s worth noting that each of their last three wins were secured on home soil. AZ meanwhile looked a little undercooked in their 1-0 reverse at RKC on Saturday in their Eredivisie opener and they could find the Hoops’ superior match-fitness tough to match.

Both Teams to Score

AZ drew a blank at RKC on Saturday, though they did muster 19 attempts against their conquerors and we expect them to find the net against a Celtic defence that conceded at least once in four of their six competitive fixtures this term. The Bhoys have looked full of goals at the business end of the pitch themselves however, netting 16 times in their last four assignments alone, and that in turn makes the BTTS market an attractive prospect this week.

Over 1.5 Celtic Team Goals

Celtic have been turning on the style in the opening exchanges of the 2021/22 season and their supporters have been treated to plenty of goalmouth action. The Bhoys have scored a whopping 16 times in their last four matches, notching at least three times on each occasion, and with their attackers in blistering early form, the hosts look a great bet in the over 1.5 team goals market against AZ.

Celtic vs AZ: Match Preview

Celtic

Celtic booked their Europa League playoff date with AZ by trouncing Czech side Jablonec 7-2 in the previous qualification round, while their domestic form has also taken off with two wins and nine goals in league and cup against Dundee and Hearts. Summer signing Kyogo Furuhashi has hit the ground running with five goals in five starts and the Japanese forward is one to watch out for again this week.

AZ

Plenty of interested observers were eager to see how AZ would perform without the star duo they cashed in on in the summer, Myron Boadu and Calvin Stengs, and Alkmaar wrote headlines for all the wrong reasons when they slipped to a 1-0 defeat against newly-promoted RKC in the Netherlands on Saturday. AZ created plenty of opportunities against their adversary, though they lacked the killer touch that Boadu in particular provided last term.
