AZ vs PSV – Free Betting Tips & Predictions

League leaders PSV put their perfect start on the line when they visit AZ Alkmaar. Read our top three expert predictions for Saturday’s fixture below.

These odds from Betfred were correct at the time of writing.

PSV to Win

AZ actually beat PSV home and away in the Eredivisie last season, though the landscape for both clubs has shifted considerably since then. The goalscoring heroes in Alkmaar’s ranks against PSV last term, Calvin Stengs and Teun Koopmeiners, have moved to pastures new and the Eindhoven giants look a far more formidable outfit. PSV have a 100% winning record in the Dutch top-flight after three games and we’re tipping that perfect start to be intact come full time on Saturday.

Over 2.5 Goals

A whopping 11 goals hit the net in PSV’s last two Eredivisie fixtures combined and the net-shredding power in the title hopefuls’ ranks could produce more excitement in Alkmaar on Saturday. It’s worth noting that six of the last eight meetings between the teams delivered over 2.5 goals and the same market is worth sticking to when they renew acquaintances this weekend.

Eran Zihavi to Score Anytime

Veteran attacker Eran Zihavi is enjoying an early-season purple patch and the 34-year-old has already notched five times in all competitions for PSV this term. Zihavi returns to club football this weekend following a five-goal showing in three games for Israel at international level and the wily forward is a prime candidate to register against AZ as a result.

AZ vs PSV: Match Preview

AZ team news

Defender Owen Wijndal is AZ’s only major injury worry ahead of Saturday’s game and manager Pascal Jansen should have plenty of options to choose from in Alkmaar. AZ won 3-1 at Heerenveen before the international break and summer signing Vangelis Pavlidis was among the scorers, breaking his duck for his new employers with a 14th minute equalizer. The Greek international was also on the scoresheet for his country against Sweden in midweek.

PSV team news

PSV Head Coach Roger Schmidt could be without several of his first teamers this weekend with Davy Propper, Cody Gakpo, Maximiliano Romero and Richard Ledezma all nursing various ailments. Gakpo’s absence, in particular, would be a bitter blow for Schmidt following the wide attacker’s excellent start to the campaign.
