Austria to Win with Handicap (-2)

It doesn’t pay to bet on Austria to win since the odds are really low on the team that’s an absolute favourite in this match. However, if you bet on them to win with a difference of at least three goals, the odds become quite interesting. And while the Faroe Islands are not as bad as they used to be, Austria is still a much better team and one of the main favourites to top the group.

Total Goals Over 3.5

While these two teams didn’t meet a lot in the past since their last match was back in 2013, Austria failed to score at least three goals just once in five previous head-to-head matches. After scoring two goals in Scotland in a difficult away duel, they shouldn’t have a problem scoring more than that against an outsider like the Faroe Islands.

Sasa Kalajdzic to Score First

The young striker of Serbian descent made a splash in the previous match against Scotland and scored a couple of goals to help Austria to a draw. He is the focal point of attack for the Austrian national team at the moment since he’s been in great form for Stuttgart in Bundesliga this season. Betting on him to score first might be a bit risky compared to him scoring at any time, but good odds make this prediction worth a try.

Austria vs Faroe Islands preview: A potential mine for Austria?

While the difference between these two teams in terms of quality is obvious, the Faroe Islands have been steadily improving over the years. Probably not enough to surprise Austria, but let’s take a closer look at these two teams.

Austria

After a successful qualifying campaign for Euro 2020, Austria will try to qualify for their first World Cup since 1998. The team seems to be in good form, with three wins in their last five games. However, Austria started this qualification cycle with a 2-2 draw against Scotland, courtesy of a late bicycle kick by John McGinn. Despite that, the Austrians have a good chance to come out of the group that doesn’t have a clear favourite – Denmark, Scotland, and Austria all have their hopes.

Faroe Islands

This tiny nation with a population of around 50,000 living on a few islands in the North Atlantic, has never qualified for European or World Championships. That is unlikely to change anytime soon, but the team did show major improvements in recent years. For example, Faroe Islands have managed to win promotion from League D to League C of the UEFA Nations League, topping the group ahead of Malta, Latvia, and Andorra. They’ve also started this qualification cycle with an away draw against Moldova.
