Under 226 Total Points
Although both teams have potent offenses and two of their three games in the regular season have gone over the 226 points line, we expect to see a low scoring Game 1 of the Bucks vs Hawks matchup. First of all, the Bucks scored an average of 107.9 points per game in the playoffs, while the Hawks scored 106.3 points per game. In addition to this, the Bucks are first in the defensive rating in the playoffs, while the Hawks are fourth. With all this taken into account, our top Bucks vs Hawks prediction is for the teams to combine for fewer than 226 total points.
Giannis Antetokounmpo 33.5 Total Points
With the Hawks having the better defensive rating in the playoffs than the Nets, we were surprised to see such a high line for total points for Giannis. After all, Antetokounmpo averaged 28.8 points per game in these playoffs, so the bookies obviously expect him to score at a higher rate against the Hawks. We don’t expect this and we believe that the Hawks can limit his scoring output since they have two good defenders in the paint in Capela and Collins. Since the Greek Freak is not a real threat from the perimeter, we think he will struggle to score against the Hawks.
Trae Young Under 28.5 Total Points
It was obvious that Trae Young is struggling with his shot in Game 7 against the 76ers since he went 5 from 23 from the field. While his shooting woes can be attributed to the good defense played by the 76ers, they were probably caused mostly by the shoulder injury that’s been bugging Young lately. With that in mind, and with Young facing one of the best defenders in the backcourt in Jrue Holiday, we expect Young to score fewer than 29 points.
Bucks vs Hawks preview – Are you ready for the Eastern Conference Finals?
The Hawks managed to surprise both the Knicks and the 76ers on their home court in Games 1 of the previous series, but can they do this against the Bucks in the Conference Finals? Let’s take a closer look at both teams ahead of Game 1:
After failing to do so last year, the Bucks have managed to reach Conference Finals for the second time in three years. Of course, they will be hoping to go at least a step further this time, especially since they are playing against the fifth seed in the East and a young team that doesn’t have much experience in these situations. Another advantage for the Bucks is their injury list, with only Donte DiVincenzo on it. While DiVincenzo is an important player for the team, the Bucks have enough firepower to deal with his absence.
The last time when the Hawks reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 2015, they were swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hopefully for the Atlanta’s fans, this scenario won’t be repeated in these Conference Finals. This playoff run by the young Hawks is very impressive from many reasons – they are inexperienced, they had to overcome the odds twice since they are the fifth seed, and they dealt with many injuries. Hunter and Goodwin are out for the season, while Bogdanovic, Huerter, and Reddish are all listed as game-time decision for Game 1.
