Few would have guessed that England and Pakistan would be the two teams remaining at the T20 World Cup with only one game left to be played.
Heading into this tournament, England were the third favourites to win the T20 World Cup 2022. Bookies had them on 4/1 (5.00), behind both India and Australia. Pakistan were even further behind, sitting in fifth place at most major bookmakers on 8/1 (9.00) to win the tournament. Now, with both England and Pakistan causing upsets in their respective semifinals, the equation has changed.
Here’s what the T20 World Cup odds look like now:
- England are Favourites to Win @ 8/13 (1.61)
- Pakistan are Behind @ 13/10 (2.30)
From not being in the top two favourites for the tournament, to making the T20 World Cup final, both England and Pakistan have defied the bookmakers odds. Will they do it again, or will this match unfold the way the bookies think?
Top T20 World Cup Odds for the Final
Below we break down more England vs Pakistan final odds, looking at the best specific bets that can be made on the T20 World Cup 2022 Final.
England to Win @ 8/13 (1.61)
Bookmakers have England that favorite coming into this one, with odds of 8/13 (1.61) compared to Pakistan’s 5/4 (2.30).
It’s hard to disagree with this assessment, given the completeness of England’s performance against India yesterday. Jos Buttler’s men put on a solid effort in the field, restricting a dangerous Indian batting line up to 168/6 from their 20 overs. The English opening batsmen then walked out and put on an absolute clinic, carving 170 runs off 16 overs for the loss of no wickets.
While England seemed patchy heading into this semifinal, one thing is now clear: This English side is the real deal, and the T20 World Cup final is theirs to lose. Expect England to stick to their aggressive brand of attacking cricket, and for them to walk away victors in an entertaining match on Sunday.
Alex Hales and Jos Buttler to Score Half Centuries @ 11/1 (12.00)
England’s semifinal victory was a thing of beauty, with both openers firing on all cylinders.
The question is: Can they do it again? In their past three matches, Jos Buttler has scored 73, 28 and 80, while Alex hales has plundered 52, 47 and 86. There’s little doubt that England will stick to their guns and commit to their ultra-aggressive attacking brand of cricket. With both Hales and Buttler having hit a rich vein of form, there’s every chance these openers will ride that momentum all the way to a T20 World Cup trophy.
If they are able to do so, the returns for a bold punter would be lucrative, at 11/1 (12.00) if both Hales and Buttler score half centuries in this final.
Babar Azam to Top Score for Pakistan @ 12/5 (3.40)
Heading into Wednesday’s match against New Zealand, Babar Azam had had a disappointing T20 World Cup.
Starting the event as the No.1 T20 batsman in the world, he made four single figure in his first four matches, limping to a total of 39 runs off five group games. However, this week that was turned around, with the Pakistani captain once again combining with Mohammad Rizwan for a century opening partnership, which saw Azam accrue 53 runs off 42 balls. Azam is a world class batsman, and we think this innings might be just the platform he needed to step up and put on a big score for his nation in the final.
With a return of 12/5 (3.40), this is an excellent punt to take.
