Aside from the main issues of crowning the Premier League champions, finalising the European spots and sorting the relegation places, there are, of course, several individual prizes that must be rewarded after the final ball has been kicked.

Goalkeepers may focus on clean sheets and midfielders on assists, with attackers only having eyes for one thing; the Top Goalscorer award.

There are several experienced Premier League forwards out there who have continuously secured a spot high up in the leaderboard in recent seasons with their phenomenal finishing, but there are also some new faces looking to make an immediate mark in England.

We take a look at the potential 2020/21 Premier League top goalscorers and their current odds to achieve the feat, and make a prediction as to which player might just clinch the honour at the end of the season.

Premier League Top Scorer Odds

1. Harry Kane – Odds: 4/1

Another England international coming off the back of a strong campaign, Kane has proved his importance to Tottenham Hotspur time and again, and the club will need him at his best should they have any hope of clinching a top-four spot.

He found the back of the net 18 times despite an injury-hit season, so it would be no real surprise to see the clinical finisher surpass that total should he manage to remain fit.

2. Mohamed Salah – Odds: 9/2

The Egyptian’s 19 goals were key in ending Liverpool’s long wait for a Premier League trophy, with his 62% shot accuracy from the wing comfortably ahead of both Sterling and team-mate Sadio Mane.

He now boasts an incredible 73 league goals from his past three campaigns at Anfield, and so he simply cannot be excluded from any potential top goalscorer award for the coming season. Salah’s sublime hat trick vs Leeds United in the opening week means he’s now the early favourite to take home the award. Given that Salah has recently been hit with COVID-19, it may take a few weeks until he’s back to his best.

3. Jamie Vardy – Odds: 6/1

Last season’s top goalscorer and one of the league’s deadliest finishers, Vardy continues to prove his doubters wrong year in, year out.

The Englishman has recorded figures of 23, 18, 20, 13 and 24 goals in his previous five Premier League campaigns respectively, and is a dreaded sight for every defender, regardless of their ability or reputation. The Leicester star will be in contention yet again.

4. Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Odds: 6/1

Calvert-Lewin has been a revelation for the Toffees since the start of the season, bagging six goals in the first four games. His goal scoring exploits has taken everyone by surprise including FPL enthusiasts. The youngster in previous seasons has shown flashes of brilliance but was too inconsistent to be relied upon for goals.

Although it’s still early days, Calvert-Lewin is looking like a completely player this season. Let’s hope the striker can maintain his brilliant form for the rest of the season and make an impact in the England national team!

5. Timo Werner – Odds: 8/1

At just 24, the German is RB Leipzig’s all-time top goalscorer, with his 34 goals in all competitions last season earning him a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

He’s also scoring for fun at international level, and could really set the Premier League alight in the coming months, particularly with Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic behind him.

6. Son Heung-Min – Odds: 8/1

Son Heung-Min quickly became a fan favourite at Tottenham due to his energetic performances and eye for goal. The South Korean’s raw pace and ability to score with either foot makes him a nightmare for defenders, as displayed in Tottenham’s 6-1 win over Manchester United.

He’s managed to reach double figures over the last four seasons – hitting figures of 11, 12, 12 & 14. With only 4 games gone so far, Son is already at 6 and looks set to break his previous goal scoring records providing he remains injury-free.

7. Patrick Bamford – 20/1

Patrick Bamford has been Leeds United’s unlikely hero so far this season. The ex-Chlesea striker has made a strong start to the year, bagging a hattrick against Villa and is already pushing for an England call-up. His form has taken everyone by surprise given he had a record of 1 goal in 27 Premier League games prior to this campaign.

Bamford is also a huge hit on FPL with his price rising up from £5.5 to £6.1 – only Kane and Vardy have scored more points than him. His underlaying statistics are impressive and will need to keep scoring goals for fun to keep Leeds safe from relegation.

8. Sadio Mane – Odds: 20/1

Unstoppable when running direct to goal, Mane also knows how to find the back of the net, endearing himself to the Liverpool faithful with his displays over the years.

The Senegal star finished just one goal behind his team-mate Salah last season on 18, having shared the top scorer award with his fellow winger and Aubameyang in 2018/19. He will undoubtedly be in the mix once again.

9. Ollie Watkins – 25/1

Aston Villa fans were worried they overpaid to recruit a striker only proven in the Championship. Dean Smith was confident he could cut the mustard at a higher level having managed him at Brentford.

Watkins has quickly repaid a chunk of the £28 million fee based on his early displays. He scored his first Premier League goals in Villa’s bizarre 7-2 victory over Liverpool with Watkins bagging the perfect hattrick – left foot, right foot and a header. Villa’s upcoming games against Brighton, West Ham, Newcastle, Wolves, Burnley, West Brom and Palace will give him plenty of chances to add to his tally.

10. Raheem Sterling – Odds: 25/1

With Manchester City aiming to regain their title, there will be huge pressure on the entire squad. But Sterling is more than capable of providing the goods in such a situation.

The winger has amassed an incredible 55 league goals in the last three seasons, a remarkable achievement given his position on the pitch. At 25 years old, he can still get a lot better.

Outsiders

There will, however, be a handful of other attackers throughout the league with one eye on the highly-coveted prize.

One such attacker includes City’s Gabriel Jesus, who has been given a more prominent role by Pep Guardiola. The young Brazilian is currently 28/1 to finish in first place in the goalscoring charts.

Aubameyang finished just one goal behind Vardy last time out but now looks way off the pace. Since signing a new mega money contract Aubameyang’s performances have been really poor. The Gabonese striker is 33/1 to make a miraculous comeback and finish top bagsman.

The 2019/20 campaign proved to be a huge success for Danny Ings, with the Southampton striker’s 22 goals earning him a recall to the England national team after a five-year absence. His goal conversion of 33% was higher than any other player in the competition last season, and there is no reason why the former Burnley and Liverpool man can’t hit similar heights once again. Ings is priced at 28/1.

Other interested parties include newly-recruited Newcastle man Callum Wilson, who brings with him plenty of top-flight experience after his relegation with Bournemouth. Wolves hitman Raul Jimenez is another with huge potential to fire his way to the top, having netted 17 times last time out.

The former is currently 50/1 to claim the top goalscorer award, with the latter available at 25/1.

Finally, Leeds striker Rodrigo will be looking to make his mark and prove his worth after a big-money move from Valencia. The Spaniard has been given odds of 200/1 to exceed all expectations and take home the Premier League Golden Boot in his debut season at Elland Road.
